Boeing Dreamliner Paint Shop

Boeing Paint HangerAs with all of our crews, safety is a priority for the 30+ Buckner iron-workers, superintendents and crane operators erecting 4000 tons of steel at the “Boeing Paint Shop” in Charleston, SC. Earlier this month, the Boeing team participated in the OSHA National Safety Stand Down for Fall Protection to raise awareness and demonstrate a continued commitment to fall protection. Site-wide, subcontractors and Skanska, the general contractor, teamed up to realize the following accomplishments:

  • 2,605 Man hours with zero incidents or injuries
  • 106 Man hours of training/Tool box safety talks
  • 21 Man hours of time above our routine safety vigilance specifically dedicated to safety observation, hazard recognition and follow up of corrective items.
  • Over 2 days, 11 team members, including Project Executive Mark Engleking, conducted a safety blitzes. 104 observations of good safe work practices and plans were documented.
  • 2 Lunches and one breakfast were served
  • $3000 of raffle gifts were collected and given away as safety incentives.
